The Greek choreographers Danae & Dionysios won the XL Production Award of 100.000 euros at the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (RIDCC) in 2018. This is the largest choreography award of its kind in the world. With this prize they present Free At Last.
Free At Last draws inspiration from Souliotes, an ancient Northern tribe of Greece and the story of Zalongo, as well as from the book The Saviors of God by the Greek author Nikos Kazantzakis. With these elements Danae and Dionysios capture the flow of tradition from one generation to the other. End to beginning, beginning to end, a constant recycling of life, death and rebirth.
Free At Last will be performed at Theater Rotterdam on June 5 & 6 2019, 7:00 pm. More info & tickets.
ATMA
More work by Danae & Dionysios during the Dansweek! On June 14 2019 they will perform ATMA, with the RIDCC winning duet Uncia. More info & tickets.
